Sunny Chen
Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Sunny is a senior at Bridgewater-Raritan High School in central New Jersey. She is a compassionate individual committed to making a difference in her community and beyond.
In 2022, following the flash floods in central Appalachia during the summer, her community ran a Christmas drive in the region. What stopped her in her tracks was when, instead of asking for cool gadgets and toys for the holiday, a little boy was asking for undergarments and sanitary products. Upon researching, she found that over a million people die from hygiene-related illnesses annually, yet 50 percent of them could be reduced by handwashing with soap. Unsurprisingly, significantly less efforts have been made to tackle hygiene poverty, as hygiene products are much more costly. Thus, fighting hygiene poverty became one of her non-profit organization ReSoap Foundation’s mission.
Sunny hopes to see ReSoap grow into a formidable force against hygiene poverty and climate change, reaching classrooms, corporations, organizations, and individuals nationwide. She hopes to unite teens around the country and contribute to creating a world where access to basic hygiene and an understanding of climate change is a reality for all.
Saving lives, two hands at a time.
